From fiber to fabric

Emanuel Lang

In 1856, Emanuel Lang founded his fabric workshop in Waldighofen. Later, it is in Hirsingue in the Haut Rhin, that the activity continues with the spinning and weaving of cotton.

After a change of shareholder and a restructuring, the company led a real fight in 2013, to avoid the closure of its site and the relocation of the machines from the factory, a treasure for which they beaten to the end. The company was then bought by Pierre Schmitt and joined the Velcorex group at the end of 2013. Faced with the challenges of the textile sector, the company specializes in working with natural materials such as linen, hemp or nettle. While relocation leads to the disappearance of French flax spinning mills, Emanuel Lang is the first company to put forward this activity from 2019: it reinvests in a spinning activity to once again offer this know-how in France and offer reels and 100% French made linen fabrics. Thanks to his know-how, Emanuel Lang is today specialized in the weaving of natural materials and offers innovative fabrics, both in their technical aspects and in the creativity of the models. The company has around 30 employees.

The company is labeled Actor Alsace Terre Textile, Masters of Linen® and has OEKO certification -TEX® standard 100.
